Meet Marlow, everybody! This little cutie was so well behaved on her newborn family session a couple of weeks ago here in Charlotte. She pretty much slept the entire time, which for newborn photography is quite ideal. It’s pretty awesome being able to photograph all of Morgan & Jarrod’s milestones and growing family. It was just a few years ago we were in Greece together where they got married overlooking one of Santorini’s best views.
Greece Trip Favorites
As I reflect back on a trip to Greece in 2016, I wanted to share thirty of my favorite film photos from that trip. Whenever I travel I love to slow down and document as much as possible on old manual film cameras (I take a small digital too so I can share on the go). I can’t tell you exactly why I love it, but it just feels more real working with film.
All of these images were shot on a Yashica Mat 124G with Kodak Ektar 100 or Portra 400.
We flew into Athens and immediately jumped into the history, which I’m all about.
After a few days exploring the Parthenon and little pockets of Athens we jumped on a plane headed for Santorini. I have to say (even with the tourists) it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The sheer height of Fira over the water is staggering. There’s a shot below of cruise ships to help illustrate the height, but it really is something to experience. Also, be ready to eat entire bricks of feta and olives. The food is incredible, but that’s probably not a surprise.
I’d also recommend staying in Fira, which is what we did to minimize our exposure to the crowds in Oia. Plus, I’d argue the views are even better since you’re at one of the highest points on the island.
Depending on how much time you’ve got, I’d recommend checking out as many of the Greek Isles as possible. We ferried from Santorini to Crete (the largest island in the chain) and spent a few days exploring Chania and the Old Venetian Harbor. The vibe here is very different than Santorini and seems far more influenced by its north African neighbors to the south. Crete is only about 200 miles north of Libya.
